          How often in today’s economy have you heard “fix the problem as cheap as you can?           CharNor is offering STEER AXLE REPAIR COST OPTIONS work sheets that many of our customers find useful when quoting steer axle repair needs (see below). They use these worksheets to help their customers understand the total cost of repairs and provide value by showing them the options that are available. These forms can be down loaded from the words "Attachment 1" and "Attachment 2". The attachments are in two forms, one with and one without the CharNor logo. Even though the customer may want to “just fix the axle as cheap as possible” many of our customers tell us they will quote a complete repair done by their technicians or a reman exchange as an option. Both options will result in a new service life or “zero hour” axle assembly for their customer. Often times when the dealer explains the total cost, i.e. down time, rentals, the extra cost to do the job right way, the cost of bringing the axle to a “zero hour” state is not that much higher. While the dealer is repairing part of the axle anyway it may make sense to the customer to go ahead and do the better repair at this time and thus bring in more revenue to the dealership.

 

          Another observation from our customers is that given the state of the economy their customer most likely will do the cheap repair now but they are confident the customer will remember their dealership because they have given them options that will make better sense for them in the future.

 

          Dealers may be missing the opportunity of maximizing their parts sales to their customers when a customer is doing his own steer axle repair and the customer is sending axle parts out for repair at a local machine shop. Proactive dealers offer the option of a reman exchange axle. The reman exchange will be a no hassle solution for the customer with great up time. Reman exchange may be a product they may not know about. Give your customer less reasons to shop your competitors when they know you are looking out for them.
